Hand-rearing Service

Hand-rearing with a high success rate requires experience, knowledge, patience, time, and a lot of care. If you are struggling with an orphaned puppy or kitten, a hand-rearing service from Auntie Jessie might be your saving grace (although I have been known to rear many other animals including mice.)

I also offer phone consultations and home visits where owners are wishing to hand rear themselves and are seeking guidance. In some cases, hand rearing may not be necessary and where possible, I will advise on the best course of action to keep pups/kittens with their mum. Home visits are often preferred as I can assess the puppies and kittens which is hard to do via a phone call I bring my neonatal nursing kit with me so that I can give supportive treatments and provide equipment. Owners also find home visits useful if they require coaching in procedures such as tube feeding. (Home visits -petrol fee costs @50p/mile if more than 10miles from BA8 postcode)

Round the clock care (feeding up to every 1.5 hours day and night!)

Daily updates along with copies of rearing records

Incubators-T40M Vetario intensive care unit and T30 travel incubator

Plasma colostrum (providing immunity)

Oxygen generator- ideal for prematurity/breathing difficulties

Tube feeding for weak, disabled neonates

Nebuliser for respiratory illness/prematurity

We had 6 Frenchie pups born but unfortunately we only found out about Jess through our vet. Fortunately we got the last 2 pups to her in the nick of time and she worked a miracle to bring them back from the brink of death due to their mum having feeding problems.
